Conzepte pursues the political emphasis of earlier projects, subjecting several aspects to further development.

One example is the magazine Vor der Information (Before Information, 1994-2000) that was planned, designed, and published by Simone Bader, Antke Engel, Richard Ferkl, Jane Heiss, Gabriele Marth, Chaz Pigott, Johanna Schaffer, Jo Schmeiser, and Octavian Trauttmansdorff. We worked with a range of methods of contemporary cultural production, subjected them to critical discussion and devising new forms of presentation in order to overcome discrimination on the level of representation (word and image). A chief concern was the establishment of egalitarian partnerships with discriminated and minoritized political groups (e.g., self-organized migrant organizations), reflection of the social positions of those involved (e.g., as white feminists), and the creation of interfaces between various fields of work and politics (art, research, film, activism, cultural work, etc.). The last two issues of Vor der Information focused on the politics of migration and antiracist feminist publics:
Staatsarchitektur
Antirassistische Öffentlichkeiten. Feministische Perspektiven

Vor der Information established links between fields of activity and between writers. Diverse knowledge on a political issue was bundled and made available to a range of groups. The desired outcome was joint thinking and action. Critical discussions that took place during the process of making the magazine were documented and made available to the readers.

Conzepte takes the idea of reference as its basic structure – one writer relates to an existing text by another writer, creating a new work that can be read both in its own right and in relation to the existing text. Between the two texts, a space for commentary, dispute, and discussion opens up.

Vor der Information looked for new, antiracist, and feminist forms of visual and textual production. Because political change also calls for a different politics of representation.

Conzepte further develops this idea of antiracist and feminist textual politics. Antiracist and feminist knowledge, research against anti-Semitism, and queer positions are to be multiplied and popularized with the help of the project’s media partners. Conzepte encourages the use of various media and formats to spread antiracist, feminist-queer and anti-anti-Semitic content.
