 Nicola Lauré al-Samarai is a historian and cultural theorist. Her work focuses on aspects of the politics of Black German memory, representation, and culture. In 2004, with Keith Piper and Tina Campt, she developed the exhibition project I-Whitness: Historical Sounding Gallery, a large-scale walk-in installation that presented three life stories of Afro-German survivors of Nazism. In 2005/06, she contributed to the concept for the traveling exhibition Homestory Deutschland. Schwarze Biografien in Geschichte und Gegenwart. In 2007, together with Kien Nghi Ha and Sheila Mysorekar, she published the anthology re/visionen. Postkoloniale Perspektiven von People of Color auf Rassismus, Kulturpolitik und Widerstand in Deutschland. Nicola Lauré al-Samarai lives and works in Berlin.
